La visión del Desarrollo Humano Sostenible se caracteriza por ser integral, lo que nos permite percibir la realidad de nuestra comunidad, país o región Centroamericana. De esta manera, podemos reconocer los resultados y las necesidades que tenemos. El desarrollo de un país no solo puede ser analizado desde la perspectiva económica. Por el contrario, se centra en garantizar que todos los habitantes puedan satisfacer sus necesidades básicas, como educación, salud, vivienda, bienestar social y otros elementos que les permitan tener y gozar de una vida digna. Es un proceso continuo que nunca termina, pues se encuentra centrado en el individuo y en las personas. Se reconoce que ellas son la mayor riqueza de un país y, por tanto, se busca asegurar que vivan de manera sostenible, utilizando los recursos naturales con cuidado y responsabilidad, como el agua, los bosques y los suelos. Esto les permite acceder a oportunidades de salud, educación y empleo adecuadas, sin ningún tipo de discriminación (PNUD 1994). La versión indígena de la definición de desarrollo se puede sustentar desde varios pilares: 1) el individuo y su comunidad como centro del desarrollo político, económico, cultural y social; 2) desde el punto de vista de los pueblos indígenas; 3) y desde el papel que tienen las instituciones gubernamentales y organizaciones no gubernamentales (ONG) sobre el desarrollo de los valores y principios que deben promover. La propuesta de desarrollo debe ser el resultado de una decisión comunitaria, es decir, los individuos que conocen sus necesidades viven su cultura, conocen sus experiencias, su historia, tradiciones y costumbres de las diferentes comunidades indígenas.

The vision of sustainable human development is characterized by being comprehensive, allowing us to perceive the reality of our community in our country or in the Central American region. so that it allows us to recognize the results and the needs that we have. The development of a country can not only be seen from an economic perspective, on the contrary, it is focused on seeking that all the inhabitants who live in it can meet their basic needs, including education, health, housing, social welfare or other elements. that allow you to have and enjoy a dignified life. It is a continuous process that never ends, since it is centered on the individual, on people, understanding that they are the greatest wealth of a country and that people live well, they must be sustainable that natural resources are used with care and responsibilities like water, forests and soils. This allows them to access adequate health, education and employment opportunities, without any type of discrimination (UNDP 1994). The indigenous version of the definition of development can be sustained from the base of: 1) the individual and their community as the center of political, economic, cultural and social development 2) on the other hand from the point of view of indigenous peoples 3) as also the role of government institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the development of the values and principles that they should promote. The development proposal must be the result of a common community decision, that is, the individuals who know their needs, live their culture, know their experiences, their history, traditions, and customs of the different indigenous communities.
