La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo general establecer el perfil diagnóstico de la infraestructura física de Puerto Nuevo, Bahía Portete, y su impacto en la competitividad internacional. Para la elaboración del estudio se utilizó el tipo descriptivo correlacional, no experimental, con un método inductivo y con un enfoque cualitativo, con el cual se tuvo la finalidad de exhibir las diversas problemáticas que posee Puerto Nuevo con respecto a las variables de estudio. A continuación, se diseñó un plan documental y a su vez de campo, con el que se realizó la recolección de datos con la meta de obtener la información necesaria para diagnosticar el estado de la infraes tructura física de Puerto Nuevo y generar estrategias para potencializar su competitividad a nivel internacional. Teniendo presente lo anterior, se expo ne la selección de una población de cinco individuos que conforman el área administrativa de Puerto Nuevo, a quienes se les aplicó el instrumento tipo entrevista, la cual fue constituida por un cuestionario de veintiocho ítems, divididos en grupos de siete ítems, en relación con la variable infraestructura física, y veintiún ítems con la variable competitividad internacional, las cua les tuvieron respuestas abiertas. Se debe mencionar que se utilizaron biblio grafías, artículos, investigaciones relacionadas, monografías, documentos gubernamentales o municipales, grabaciones y filmaciones con el propósito de analizar la información obtenida. De los resultados se exalta la siguiente conclusión, la cual señala que la sociedad portuaria a cargo del Puerto debe solucionar sus problemas financieros de liquidez, debido a que sin capital no pueden ejecutar mejoras al servicio que ofrecen, además que una inyección de capital podría revitalizar diversos aspectos del Puerto, en este caso, parte de la infraestructura, lo que lo haría más atractivo para inversores nacionales y extranjeros y lo constituiría como un activo importante para la región.

The general objective of this research was to establish the diagnostic pro f ile of the physical infrastructure of Puerto Nuevo – Bahia Portete and its impact on international competitiveness. Therefore, for the preparation of the study, the descriptive, correlational, non-experimental type was used, with an inductive method and with a qualitative approach with which the purpose of exhibiting the various problems that Puerto Nuevo has with res pect to the study variables was used. Next, a documentary and field plan were designed in which data was collected with the goal of obtaining the necessary information to diagnose the state of the physical infrastructure of Puerto Nuevo and generate strategies for enhancing competitiveness to international level. Bearing in mind the above, the selection of a population of five individuals that make up the administrative area of Puerto Nuevo is exposed to which the interview-type instrument was applied, which was constituted by a questionnaire of twenty-eight items divided between seven items in relation to the physical infrastructure variable and twenty-one items with international competitiveness, which had open responses. In the same way, it should be mentioned that they will be used in bibliographies, articles, related research, monographs, government or municipal documents, recordings and filmings for the purpose of analyzing the information obtained. Among the following results obtained, it is possible to exalt the conclusion which indicates that the port company in charge of the port must solve its financial liquidity problems, because without capital they cannot carry out improvements to the service it offers, in addition to an injection of capital it could revitalize various aspects of the port, in this case part of the infrastruc ture, which would make it more attractive for national and foreign investors and would constitute it as an important asset for the region.
