La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar la representación social del inmigrante venezolano en los habitantes de la ciudad de Riohacha, por tanto, se interpreta la actitud evidenciada de los habitantes del Distrito de Riohacha frente a la identidad cultural, aceptación política y otros aspectos relacionados con los inmigrantes venezolanos en el distrito, además se describe la percepción general de los habitantes sobre la vida cotidiana de los inmigrantes venezolanos dentro de dicho distrito., seguido a ello, se identifica el direccionamiento institucional decretado para los inmigrantes venezolanos en relación con sus derechos y necesidades básicas dentro de las políticas públicas de Riohacha y posterior a ello, se describen las posibles oportunidades y/o vulnerabilidades a las que están expuestos los inmigrantes venezolanos en el mencionado territorio, para finalmente concluir que la percepción y las actitudes en Riohacha hacia el migrante es mayoritariamente negativa, de modo que, sobre los inmigrantes venezolanos y sus formas de manejarse en la vida cotidiana se presenta una resistencia de la comunidad de acogida. Para la fundamentación teórica de las variables objeto de estudio se consultaron los postulados de autores como López, J. (2019), Ruiz de Lobera, M. (2004), Medina, R (2015), Lamont, M. (2009), Lestage, F. (2001)., Phinney, J. (2004)., Papademetriou, D. & Terrazas, A. (2009), Zarza, M. J., & Sobrino, M. I. (2007) Zoni. I. (2022), Schwartz, SJ, Unger, JB, Zamboanga, BL y Szapocznik, J. (2010), así como de la Organización Internacional para las Migraciones- OIM (2019) y la UN Refugee Agency- UNHCR (2020), entre otros. Esta investigación tiene un enfoque mixto, por tanto, combina métodos cuantitativos y cualitativos, lo que supone una triangulación de los datos derivados de ambos tipos metodológicos, además el siguiente estudio presenta características de una investigación de tipo descriptiva, porque especifica las características propias, así como los usos y formas de un grupo de personas y/o comunidad; objetos que se sometieron al análisis. El universo de estudio de esta investigación estuvo conformado por todos los habitantes del Distrito de Riohacha, tomándose una muestra representativa (Comuna 1, Comuna 4 y Comuna 10). Como resultados del desarrollo de este estudio, se observa que en Riohacha la llegada de los inmigrantes venezolanos, según la percepción de la comunidad en general está asociada a inseguridad, ilegalidad y otras diversas problemáticas, evidenciándose entonces que para comunas 1, 4 y 10 de Riohacha, se muestran diversos brotes de aporofobia, racismo y/o xenofobia hacia los inmigrantes venezolanos, asuntos que merecen especial atención desde la academia, hasta los entes públicos y demás involucrados en el asunto.

The objective of this research was to analyze the social representation of the Venezuelan immigrant in the inhabitants of the city of Riohacha, therefore, the attitude evidenced by the inhabitants of the District of Riohacha regarding cultural identity, political acceptance and other aspects related to Venezuelan immigrants in the district, in addition, the general perception of the inhabitants about the daily life of Venezuelan immigrants within said district is described, followed by the identification of the institutional direction decreed for Venezuelan immigrants in relation to their rights and basic needs within the public policies of Riohacha and after that, the possible opportunities and/or vulnerabilities to which Venezuelan immigrants are exposed in the aforementioned territory are described, to finally conclude that the perception and attitudes in Riohacha towards the migrant is mostly negative Thus, regarding Venezuelan immigrants and their ways of managing themselves in daily life, there is resistance from the host community. For the theoretical foundation of the variables under study, the postulates of authors such as López, J. (2019), Ruiz de Lobera, M. (2004), Medina, R (2015), Lamont, M. (2009), Lestage, F. (2001)., Phinney, J. (2004)., Papademetriou, D. & Terrazas, A. (2009), Zarza, M. J., & Sobrino, M. I. (2007) Zoni. I. (2022), Schwartz, SJ, Unger, JB, Zamboanga, BL and Szapocznik, J. (2010), as well as the International Organization for Migration- IOM (2019) and the UN Refugee Agency- UNHCR (2020), among others. This research has a mixed approach, therefore, it combines quantitative and qualitative methods, which supposes a triangulation of the data derived from both methodological types, in addition, the following study presents characteristics of a descriptive type of research, because it specifies the characteristics of the research, as well as the uses and forms of a group of people and/or community; objects that were subjected to analysis. The universe of study of this research was made up of all the inhabitants of the District of Riohacha, taking a representative sample (Comuna 1, Comuna 4 and Comuna 10). As results of the development of this study, it is observed that in Riohacha the arrival of Venezuelan immigrants, according to the perception of the community in general, is associated with insecurity, illegality and other various problems, evidencing then that for communes 1, 4 and 10 of Riohacha, various outbreaks of aporophobia, racism and/or xenophobia towards Venezuelan immigrants are shown, issues that deserve special attention from academia, to public entities and others involved in the matter.
