La metodología se enmarcó en enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo aplicada, explicativa y es transversal; con un diseño de campo, no experimental. La población objeto de estudio estuvo conformada por dos grupos: el primero, correspondiente a docentes, administrativos y estudiantes de las instituciones educativas del distrito de Riohacha (50 personas); y el segundo, correspondiente a los veedores ciudadanos (15 personas) que ejercen la labor de vigilancia CORPOGUAJIRA, en las instituciones educativas del distrito, en una totalidad de 65 personas. Como técnica se usó la encuesta y como instrumento, dos cuestionarios: respuestas de escala tipo Likert (Muy de acuerdo, De acuerdo, Indeciso, En desacuerdo, Muy en desacuerdo). La confiabilidad se calculó mediante el coeficiente de Alpha de Cronbach arrojando un resultado 0,81 para el instrumento dirigido a los veedores ciudadanos y 0,94 para el que estuvo dirigido a administrativos y estudiantes. Se concluye, que las funciones de la veeduría ciudadana a la educación ambiental ejecutada por la institución objeto de estudio, refleja que ciertas debilidades en la función relación. Además, cuenta con un plan de promoción de la participación ciudadana en el control social, asimismo, se implementan medidas que buscan hacer más eficiente su gestión., cumpliendo los tipos de educación ambiental, además, se promueve en los ciudadanos los valores y principios del desarrollo sustentables, además, crean grupos que promueven la conciencia sobre la sustentabilidad.The objective of this study was to analyze the citizen oversight carried out on environmental education by the Regional Autonomous Corporation of La Guajira in the educational institutions of the Riohacha district. Theoretically, it was based on authors such as: Torres (2016), Ávila (2004), Vera (2018), Earl (2004); Ordonez (2013) and Cano (2012). The methodology was framed in a quantitative approach, applied, explanatory and transversal; with a field design, not experimental. The population under study was made up of two groups: the first, corresponding to teachers, administrators and students from educational institutions in the district of Riohacha (50 people); and the second, corresponding to the citizen observers (15 people) who carry out CORPOGUAJIRA surveillance work, in the educational institutions of the district, in a total of 65 people. The survey was used as a technique and two questionnaires as an instrument: Likert-type scale responses (Strongly agree, Agree, Undecided, Disagree, Strongly disagree). Reliability was calculated using Cronbach's Alpha coefficient, yielding a result of 0.81 for the instrument aimed at citizen observers and 0.94 for the one aimed at administrators and students. It is concluded that the functions of citizen oversight of environmental education carried out by the institution under study, reflects certain weaknesses in the relationship function.
